Setting a MFA and Password Recovery Email

Modified on Mon, Oct 28 at 9:42 PM

This article explains how to setup a password recovery email and how to do a self serve password reset in Connected on Demand.  As of May 1st, 2024, the password recovery email will also server as the email address for monthly MFA (Multi Factor Authentication).

By setting up a password recovery email, the account password can be recovered/reset for Connected on Demand access, without needing your account Admin or Connected Support.

NOTE: Setting a  recovery email can be especially helpful if the account password is expired or forgotten and needed during off hours when other resources are not available.

How to Set up and Use a Password Recovery Email

Step 1: Setting up the Password Recovery Email

1) Log into Connected on Demand.

2) Click on the Start menu in the lower left corner of the window as shown below.

3) Then select the MFA & Password Recovery Email icon under Accessories.

4) Enter an email address that you have access to so that you can change your password.

Please Note: The email address can be the same as your login or different, as long as it can be accessed outside of Connected on Demand.

5) Click Update to save your changes.

Step 2: Using the Password Recovery Email address

To reset your Connected on Demand password:

1) Open up a web browser and type hosted.accountek.com into the url field.

2) Click Forgot Password as shown below.

3) Enter in the info as shown below and then click Submit.

User name = The email used to log into Connected on Demand
Email address = The email you set up as your recovery email

Please Note: In most cases, both fields will be the same as the User name is the recovery/MFA Email address.

4) Check the email that was used in the email address field.

An email will have a link that will allow you to enter a new password. Check the Junk/Spam folder if you don't see it in your Inbox. Click on the link, as shown in the sample message below:

5) Enter in a new password and click Reset.

Once a new password has been established you will receive a confirmation email that the password has been changed.

Use the new password to access the Connected on Demand.

NOTE: If you are using a macOS to access Connected on Demand, make sure that the password is updated to the Remote Desktop application.
