Mac OS Install - Unidentified Developer Message (Mac OS Security)

Modified on Tue, Sep 1, 2015 at 11:27 AM

This entry provides a brief explanation of an installation error that you may receive, depending on your security settings, in Mac OS.  This affects Mac OS 10.8, 10.9, and 10.10.

The Connected installer does not currently support the Mac OS security settings which can block apps being installed unless they are either from the "Mac App Store" or "Mac App Store and Identified Developers".     Depending on your security settings, a system message may appear, as shown in the following screen, and typically contain this text: "Connected 7.3.app" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."

To install and run the Connected 7 Full or Demo application:

1) Using the Connected installer, drag the Connected 7 app to your Applications folder.  This is the normal operation during install of either the Demo or Full application.
2) Instead of double clicking, right-click the Application and select “Open”, as shown in the following screen. If you do not do this then you will get a security warning and be blocked from running the program.

3) After selecting “Open” the following message will appear

 4) Select the “Open” button to proceed and launch the application  PLEASE NOTE: This will only have to be done on the applications first run.

TIP:  You can avoid the block on running the application by making the following changes to your system preferences.
