Connected 8.x System Requirements (legacy)

NOTE:  Connected 8.x was last updated in May 2018 and the system requirements are reflective of this date.  Updating to the current Connected release is strongly recommended.

Desktop/Client Software

macOS

System Requirements 275 MB of free hard disk space, 4 GB RAM, macOS 10.9 or greater. Screen resolution of 1280x900 or greater.


NOTE:  Connected 10.x is recommended for use with macOS Mojave (10.14.x).  Connected 8.3.x will work with macOS Mojave (10.14.x), with compromise. Connected 8.3.x is required for macOS 10.13.x (High Sierra).

macOS Time Machine is not recommended to be running during the use of Connected on a workstation or server.


PC – Windows 7,8, or 10

System Requirements: 275MB of free hard disk space, 4 GB RAM, Intel i3 or greater processor, Windows 7, 8, or 10 (32 or 64bit) Professional. Screen resolution of 1280x900 or greater.


NOTE: Windows 10 is not supported in earlier versions of Connected


Connected 8 Server/Network Configurations

The following section outlines the required server/network configurations based on the platform/client operating system that is accessing the Connected data file. 

NOTE: Ethernet is recommended for all multi-user versions of Connected. Although wireless networking options are available, they are not recommended.

macOS Clients with a macOS Server

2-3 Users: Dedicated macOS 10.9-10.13 server with Connected ODB server software (version 1.66c).


4+ Users: Dedicated macOS 10.9-10.13 server with Connected ODB server software (version 1.66c). Contact Connected Support at (888) 414-2196 for more information on the ODB Server Software. 


macOS Time Machine is not recommended to be running during the use of Connected on a workstation or server.  

PC Clients with Windows Server


PC Clients with a PC Server

NOTE: Connected 10.x ODBA server is recommended for PC servers with that share data with 4 or more concurrent users


2-4 Users: Dedicated Windows 7/8/10 computer to serve data.


5+ Users: Dedicated Windows 2008/2012/2016 server is recommended.
NOTE: Write caching should be turned OFF on the PC workstations accessing the data.  This is not required for the server computer

macOS & PC Clients with Windows Server

macOS Compatible Third Party Applications - Connected 8

PLEASE NOTE: Office 2011 for macOS is no longer supported by Microsoft.  If there are issues using Outlook or Excel 2011 with Connected, no support can be provided and it is recommended that Office is updated to the current version.

E-mail: Microsoft Outlook 2011, Outlook 2016, Apple Mail (Mac OS 10.9 or greater)


Spreadsheet: Microsoft Excel 2011 or 2016. NOTE: User's of Office 365 for Mac or Office 2016 require Connected 8.0 or greater.
PDF: Built into Connected 8

PC Compatible Third Party Applications - Connected 8

Email: Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
Spreadsheet: Microsoft Excel 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
