System Requirements for Connected 5 or 6 (Legacy Versions)

The following are the system requirements for the legacy versions of Connected 5 and 6.   This document is being posted as we remove these items from our system requirements page at:  https://www.accountek.com/system-requirements/


Connected Version 6.x

Mac OS Min Sys. Requirements for Version 6

190 MB of free hard disk space, 1 GB RAM, G4 or greater processor, OS 10.4 or greater. Screen resolution of 1280x900 or greater.

Mac OS Snow Leopard: Connected 6.2 or greater.
Mac OS Lion: Connected 6.4.

Windows System Requirements Version 6.x

150MB of free hard disk space, 512MB RAM, Pentium III or greater processor, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Professional, or Windows 7 Professional. Screen resolution of 1280x900 or greater.


Connected Server/Network Configurations

The following section outlines the required server/network configurations based on the platform/client operating system that is accessing the Connected data file. NOTE: Ethernet is recommended for all multi-user versions of Connected. Although wireless networking options are available, they are not recommended.

Mac Clients with a Mac Server

2-3 Users: Dedicated Mac OS 10.4 to server data. All connections to server made via AFP, not SMB.

4+ Users: Dedicated Mac OS 10.4 (or greater) or 10.4 Server (or greater) to serve data. Install and use the Connected ODB server software on server which uses an IP address to connect to data file.

Windows Clients with a Windows Server

2-5 Users: Dedicated Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Professional, or Windows 7 Professional PC to serve the data.

6+ Users: Dedicated Windows 2003 or 2008 server is recommended.

NOTE: Write caching should be turned OFF on the Windows workstations accessing the data. Contact us for information on how to disable Write Caching on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.

Mac and Windows Clients with a Mac Server

2+ Users: Dedicated Mac OS 10.4 (or greater) or 10.4 Server (or greater) to serve data. Install and use the Connected ODB server software v1.3 on server which uses an IP address to connect to data file.

Mac and Windows Clients with a Windows Server

2+ Users: Dedicated Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 server is recommended.

NOTE: Write caching should be turned OFF on the Windows workstations accessing the data. Contact us for information on how to disable Write Caching on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.

NOTE: A dedicated file server is required for all multi-user versions of Connected on Mac OS. Mac OS multi-user versions can have access to the Connected ODB server software.


Mac Compatible Third Party Applications

E-mail: Microsoft Outlook 2011, Microsoft Entourage (2004, or 2008), or Apple Mail.

Spreadsheet: Microsoft Excel (v2004,v2008, v2011)

PDF Creation: Mac OS X 10.4 or greater

Windows Compatible Third Party Applications

E-mail: Microsoft Outlook XP, 2003, 2007 or 2010

Spreadsheet: Microsoft Excel XP, 2003, 2007, or 2010

Mac OS Min Sys. Requirements for Version 5.3 to 5.x

150 MB of free hard disk space, 512 MB RAM, G4 1 Ghz or greater processor, OS 10.4 or greater. Screen resolution of 1024x768. Mac OS Snow Leopard not supported.

NOTE: Review the server software/network configurations, listed below in the "Recommended Server/Network Configurations" section, for sites with multiple concurrent users.


Windows System Requirements Version 5.x

80MB of free hard disk space, 512MB RAM, Pentium III or greater processor, Windows 2000 or XP Professional. Screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater.


Mac System Requirements for Connected 5.0 to 5.2.5

100 MB of free hard disk space, 512 MB RAM, G4 or greater processor, OS 10.3 or greater. Screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater.
