1. Overview
Connected 12.0 is the only version of Connected that is compatible with macOS Tahoe, and it runs natively on Apple Silicon (M4, M5, and later). Connected 12.0 supports macOS 26 Tahoe, macOS Sequoia, and Windows 11.
WARNING If you plan to update your Mac to macOS Tahoe, Connected 12.0 is required. Earlier versions of Connected are not compatible with macOS Tahoe and will experience issues with macOS Tahoe. |
Requirements below apply to Connected 12.x across the Connected on Demand (hosted), Desktop/Client, and Server configurations.
2. Connected on Demand (Hosted Cloud)
No desktop or server software is required to run Connected on Demand — only a supported operating system and a web browser.
| macOS | 10.15 (Catalina) or greater |
| PC | Windows 10 or Windows 11 |
| Local software | None required — no desktop or server software to install |
WARNING Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. If Windows 10 is still being used, plan an upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible. |
3. Connected Desktop/Client Software
MACOS3.1 macOS Desktop
| Operating system | macOS 13 (Ventura) or greater |
| Processor | Intel or Apple M-series chip |
| Memory (RAM) | 8 GB |
| Free disk space | 350 MB |
| Display | 1600 x 900 resolution or greater |
WARNING macOS Time Machine is not recommended while Connected is running. Running a Time Machine backup during active use can interfere with the data files. |
WINDOWS3.2 PC – Windows 11 Desktop
| Operating system | Windows 11 Professional |
| Processor | Intel i5 or greater |
| Memory (RAM) | 8 GB |
| Free disk space | 350 MB |
| Display | 1600 x 900 resolution or greater |
NOTE Write caching should be turned off on every Windows workstation. |
4. Server & Network Configurations
Whether a dedicated server is required depends on how many users need concurrent access to the same Connected data file.
MACOS4.1 macOS Clients with macOS Server
| User count | Server requirement |
|---|---|
| 1 user | macOS 13 or greater — no dedicated ODB server needed |
| 2+ users | Dedicated macOS 13+ server running Connected ODB Server v1.78 |
WINDOWS4.2 PC Clients with Windows Server
| User count | Server requirement |
|---|---|
| 2–4 users | Dedicated Windows 11 computer acting as the server |
| 5+ users | Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 (64-bit) running Connected ODB Server v1.78 |
NOTE Write caching should be turned off on every Windows workstation. |
MIXED4.3 Mixed macOS and PC Clients
Mixed environments — macOS and PC clients connecting to the same data file — are supported with either a macOS or a Windows server, following the applicable configuration above. Connected ODB Server v1.78 is required whenever 2 or more users need concurrent access, regardless of which platforms are mixed.
