Connected 11.2 Update Change Log

October 2024 - The following is a list of improvements and changes made in the Connected Accounting and ERP Software, version 11.2. Connected offers both Cloud SaaS and local Desktop deployments. Connected 11.2 is a powerful 64-bit (PC and macOS) that runs as a native application on Apple's powerful M series chips (M2, M2, M4..etc). Connected 11.2 fully supports macOS Sequoia and macOS Sonoma.

System Wide


Email Signature by User

New options for email signature by Connected user account.

Email Auto CC or BCC

New options to add an email address for auto BCC or CC a designated email address.

Use Case Example: Ten users are issuing Purchase Orders via email to vendors. Each email that is sent can automatically bcc or cc a group email purchasing@ so all users can easily view and find purchase orders sent by others.


Email Merge Fields for Contacts and Banks

New merge fields for Contacts and Banks available in email editor. The contact fields are helpful to address an email to a specific person using their first name and other unique contact info. The bank fields are useful for "pay now" links and for providing specific bank payment information (Wire or ACH).


Enable "Preview" Report Destination - Windows PC Only

New Preview report destination for Windows PC. Note: This report destination is already available for macOS users.

Preview will open the report in the default PDF viewer on Windows. For example, Microsoft Edge or Adobe Acrobat DC.  This can be very useful by opening multiple PDF's into labelled tabs for quick reference.


Update to "Settings" Windows

The following Settings windows have been updated with a new modern UI: A/R Payment Methods, A/R Sales Taxes, A/R Payment Terms, A/P Expense Codes, A/P Payment Terms, A/P Tax Codes, J/C Phase Codes, I/C Locations, General Analysis Codes, and J/C Employees.


Each updated setup window supports theme settings. All options are easier to find and define with a consistent clean layout.

The Connected modern report framework has been applied to the following reports as it approaches system wide. The new report framework supports themes, report notes, easier report selections, and updated modern UI.

General Ledger Trial Balance Report

New option to add a Posted Date column to the Detailed Trial Balance.



Bar Code Sales Order and Purchase Order Confirmations

A new add-on for scan confirmations on outbound (Sales Orders) and/or inbound (Purchase Orders) shipments is now available. The scan confirmation is focused on the high volume scanning of inventory UPC codes to ensure inventory accuracy for customer shipments out or inventory received in. When enabled, a company can choose to use both scanning confirmations (shipping and receiving) or just one.

Sales and Receivables


New CardPointe Payment Gateway Integration

New payment gateway option with CardPointe, by Fiserv. Integration uses a new hosted tokenizer to enhance PCI compliance. There are new options for reusing cards based on customer or vendor initiated charges. Integration supports an auto email generation from within Connected to send customer receipts or internal receipts. There are also new options for branded payment pages to host self serve customer payments.

Customer Statement - New Activity Statement

New report option for "Activity Statement". The Activity Statement creates a "Beginning Balance" field and shows all activity after that date to calculate an ending balance.

Customer Invoice Analysis Report - New "Summary Totals" Version

New "Summary Totals" report type which shows a single line per customer. This option is great for seeing the total sales and profit % for a specific date range, customer range, and/or item range with a very condensed report output.

A new option has also been added to exclude Service (non inventory) items for more precise profit % calculation for the "Detailed", "Summary", and the new "Summary Totals" report type.

Customers Record Info - Change Log Improvements

The customer change logs, which monitor field-level data changes within the Customers window, have been upgraded with enhanced visibility and search functionality. Given that these logs are often among the most active and sensitive, the layout has been improved for easier viewing. Additionally, a new, more intuitive search feature and a simple copy/paste function will help manage changes in highly active customer accounts more efficiently.

Other Sales and Receivables Enhancements

a) Invoice Batch field column added to the Sales ledger window. This is only available when the "Account Invoice Batch Posting" is enabled.


b) Customer Ship To Address email now syncs with Billing Address email when Ship To is specified as the same as Bill To.



Orders and Quotes


Sales Order "Cancel Line/Cancel Order" User Privileges

New user privileges for "Cancel Line Item/Cancel Order". These can be used when a manager is required to approve order cancellations.

Purchasing and Payables


Vendor Custom Fields - New Advanced Field Configuration

Vendor Custom fields have been enhanced with a new advanced configuration option to be consistent with Inventory and Customer custom fields. There are new options for controlled lists, display prefix with formatting settings, and options to make fields "required" for a Vendor. Formatting strings for currency, comma placement, decimals, prefix, or suffix in numeric custom fields can also be used.

Default Payment Method

New option in the A/P Defaults to set a default payment method. When a payment is added manually in the Payments window, the payment method will default to what has been specified. In previous versions payment method always defaulted to a Printed Check and now can be changed to either Electronic or Handwritten. The default payment method can be changed on each entry as needed.



Purchase Order "Cancel Line/Cancel Order" User Privileges

New user privilege for "Cancel Line Item/Cancel Order". These can be used when a manager is required to approve purchase order cancellations.

Purchase Orders - New Designated Vendor Item Number Column

A new designated Vendor Item column has been added in the body of the Purchase Orders window.  Previously, the vendor item/part number was added to the Description field beside the text "Your Part No".

The new Vendor Item column supports Purchase Order clone, print to spreadsheet, Purchase Order import, view on the receiving pane, inclusion in the bulk Purchase Order generation window, and is included on the both the Purchase Order and PO Receivings posting reports.

Inventory and Manufacturing


Inventory Query Window - Advanced Expression Builder

The Inventory Query window has been enhanced with an advanced expression builder for custom stock queries.  The following is an example of a new advanced expression that can be used.


Query Example: @[PO Qty]+@[Available Qty]-@[Shortage Qty on WO]<@[Minimum Qty]

Definition: PO Qty + Available Qty – Component WO Shortage Qty IS Below the minimum stock quantity


The custom query builder also includes a quick field selection menu for the most common options.

Manufacture/Work Order Window - Print Current BoM to Spreadsheet

A new option has been added to the Manufacture/Work Order to print the details of a manufacture BoM to a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is a flattened export that includes each level of the Bill of Materials, along with useful quantity and costing metrics.




Manufacturing Work Order Custom Fields - New Advanced Field Configuration

The Manufacture custom fields have been enhanced with the advanced configuration option to be consistent with Inventory and Customer custom fields. There are new options for controlled lists, display prefix with formatting settings, and options to make fields "required" for a Manufacture transaction. Improved Inventory Search Speed

New optimized "Only" search in the Inventory Advanced Find lookup list for Inventory Items.  The "Only" search reduces the search parameters possible and by doing so greatly increases the lookup speed. The search is ideal when large inventory lists are being repeatedly queried for specific values.





Work Order Ledger - Manufacture Cost and SO Filter

The Work Orders Ledger has been modified with the following improvements:


1) New Sales Order number filter so that a customer order number can be specified and all associated manufacture work orders viewed.

2) New "Manufacture Cost" column added to the field picker.  Requires "Display Cost" user privilege to be enabled.




Other Inventory and Manufacturing Enhancements

-Inventory Item field "Long Item No" increased from 40 to 50 characters in length.

-Inventory Items Activity ledger now defaults to location 1 without having to first select it.

-New version of I/C Manufacturing Report called "Detailed Stock Analysis Export".  Report is a flattened export version of the report which has options to include or exclude custom fields.

-Modified the MRP Report export to use a single line per item so it lined up better when exporting for spreadsheet analysis.


 


Importing and Data Exchange


New Data Exchange Job Details Export 

The Connected Data Exchange, used to automate the import/export of data, has been enhanced with a detailed job export to show an ordered list of all fields. Additionally, each field can now have a custom label entered, which is useful to match an external data source field names. Custom labels are exported with the Connected field name included in separate columns. This change is very useful when large export jobs are required for external data warehouses.



Maintenance and Fixes


NOTE: Issues below are current from version 11.1.00 to 11.2.00


0005186: [A/R] Customer Sales History Report. An issue was resolved that was causing customers that were marked as "Inactive" to be dropped for the report, even if they had sales history in the reporting period.


0005189: [My Reports] In certain instances My Reports data would report an error when additional hidden characters were in report field. These instances have been resolved with a new field scrub that removes the hidden characters at the time the report is created.


0005190: [A/R] A/R Customer Item History Report - Report export to text file/spreadsheet was misaligned when hidden characters were in the Description field. These instances have been resolved with a new field scrub that removes the hidden characters when the export is created.

 

0005191: [I/C] Item Query Window - "Primary Supplier Part No" column label was adjusted to be consistent with the Inventory window.  The field is now labelled "Vendor Part No" or "Primary Vendor Part No".


0005192: [I/C] Vendor Name on Inventory Item - If the primary vendor name was changed after a part number was created, the field was not updated with the new name. A utility has been created that can update all parts to the current vendor name. A ticket should be submitted to request the utility, if needed.


0005162: [A/P] Invoice PO (Purchase Order) - A minor issue was resolved that caused a false Yes/No message to temporarily loop when specific keystrokes were used in the Invoice PO window.


0005171: [Other] Bank Reconciliation Notes - An issue was resolved that caused all bank reconciliation notes to be purged when a data purge was run on the General Ledger. If Bank Rec notes are used, a purge should only be done using Connected 11.2.00 or greater.


0005149: [Other] Contacts Window PC - A minor issue was resolved with the appearance of the "Title" pulldown menu. Issue was on PC version only.


0005153: [Other] Secure Passwords - An issue was resolved that caused goofy characters being used on a masked password in the Password reset window.  Issue was on PC version only.


0004472: [A/P] PO Receiving - A minor issue was resolved that temporarily blocked a second PO receiving from being posted for an item that had already been partially received.


0005112: [G/L] Inactive Accounts - An issue was resolved that caused Inactive GL accounts to appear in the text/spreadsheet export of a report but not in the Printer/Screen/PDF version.


0005100: [Other] Print System Error - An issue was resolved during posting that caused an error when using the PDF to print a posting report.  This option has been removed until a later date.


0005117: [A/R] Sales Journal Report (Multi-Currency On) - In some instances, the Sales Journal Detailed report would show that an entry was unbalanced when it wasn't.  The issue was resolved due to a minor rounding inconsistency when using complex exchange rates.


0005119: [I/C] Master Item List Report - A minor alignment issue was resolved in the Print/Screen/PDF version of the report.


0005118: [A/P] 1099 NEC Form - Resolved issue that caused the year to print "5" instead of two digit year.


0005096: [Advanced Find] Inventory Item Advanced Find - An issue was resolved that caused the Selling Price to display only 2 decimals in the Advanced Find Inventory List, when a setting of greater than two decimals was being used. To resolve the issue, the Selling Price column needs to be removed and then added back.


0005022: [A/P] Prepayment - An issue was resolved that blocked a vendor pre-payment entry from being posted when "Post to the General Ledger" was disabled. This issue would typically only affect the entry of beginning balances in a new Connected data file.


0005025: [I/C] Inventory Valuation Report - Resolved an issue that caused Inactive inventory items to be dropped from a backdated inventory valuation report.


0005018: [I/C] Inventory Movement Report - Resolved an issue that did not display movement for items marked as inactive.


0005009: [I/C] Reverse Manufacture - Resolved an issue that blocked a Reverse Manufacture entry if the cost layer for the item being reversed was already closed.
