Introduction

The 1099-NEC (Non-Employee Compensation) form has changed for the 2021 tax year.  Starting January 2022, the 1099-NEC will print 3 forms per page.

Below are the instructions on how to request and upload the new form template into Connected and use it.

How To Import and Use the 2021 1099-NEC form

Step 1 - CLICK HERE to submit a ticket request for the 2021 1099-NEC Form Update File.  The update file is required to proceed to Step 2.

Step 2 - Once you receive the new form template, copy it to your desktop.  DO NOT double click it.

Step 3 - Open Connected and under File > Company Set up > A/P Forms, select 1099 from the Show Forms menu at the top of the screen, as shown below.

Step 4 - Click the IMPORT button on the right side of the screen.

Connected will ask which form to import.  Select the new 1099 Form Template (the one you requested and have saved on your desktop).  It should appear in the list as "2021 Preprinted 1099 NEC Import"

Step 5 - Select this form and click Customize.  Click on the first icon in the upper left corner of the window to print a sample on blank paper. Compare this with the pre-printed forms for the 1099 NEC for this year.

NOTE: You may have to adjust some field positions slightly as needed, since different user profiles and different printer setups/margins can affect the results.

Customizing Forms and Form Editor

Step 6 - Click Finish to save the changes.

This form will now be available when selecting forms to print 1099 NECs for 2021
